Good read -- Yes, investments are down for all industries, not just #EdTech, also aside from how much #s are down this year, there are still amazing companies doing big things, @Career_Karma @JuniLearning for example. Future of education IMO.

@AndraEklund1 @vet_dot @Debs_Kropotkin Idk, you’ll have to ask someone who uses it. I just know about it because our family homeschools and lots of people use it. We use Art of Problem Solving for math, Juni Learning for computer science, and various other programs in terms of online curriculum.

@pseudorandompi @DailyJLee Look at Juni Learning, for example. They’ve got remote down to an art, and have since before the pandemic. And for K-12, too. Why couldn’t public schools have done that? It’s possible, clearly. I hear a lot of people like Ourschool, too, although I’ve never tried it.

@vivianmshen @JuniLearning That’s important in the early stages of a start-up when the team is figuring out product-market fit. If a founder isn’t in the trenches but still wants to own decisions, that slows down progress and alienates the team (e.g., proposing roadmap without ever speaking to a customer)

Many supplemental edtech and education companies observed a M***IVE spike in purchases, uses, and subscriptions (ex. @outschool, @JuniLearning, @Primer, etc.)
Many families tried out the unbundled schooling life, and some will decide to stick with it even after COVID winds down

Make it easy for anyone to pitch.
At @JuniLearning, team members put their pitch into a doc in Notion using a simple problem-solution format. They edit it with their manager before the weekly pitch meeting. With usually less than a few hours of prep, they’re ready to pitch.

@TRFitzpatrick @JuniLearning The growth was caused primarily by the pandemic shut down! We did eventually grow our CS team, but at the sales growth was so significant it had to be all-hands-on-deck.

I would say also that simplicity is key. You could write essays about your idea or company... break it down into 2 sentences that are clear and concise.
